Your CVUT first-year checklist

Set up the essentials in an order that avoids the most common dead ends. Tick a step only after you have completed it on the official CVUT website; this page never asks for your password, student number, documents, or study records.

Begin with your CTU identity. Most other services depend on it.

Do these first

Activate your university identity

One identity problem can make KOS, email, Moodle, Wi-Fi, and faculty services all appear broken. Resolve this phase before troubleshooting each service separately.

Use the university’s activation instructions and sign in only on an official CTU page. A password manager is safer than reusing a personal password.

Open the official password guide ↗

Confirm that your university identity, faculty relationship, contact information, and account status look correct. Other systems rely on these central records.

Open UserMap ↗

Check the card type, photo, collection location, and current requirements. Use the Card Portal for supported self-service tasks; use the official card office page for rules.

Know where work happens

Open the core study systems

KOS is the official academic record; Moodle is the course workspace. They can show different information without either system being broken.

Find your programme, enrolled courses, timetable records, and exam area. Treat KOS as the authority for enrollment, classifications, and the official study plan.

Open KOS ↗

Look for materials, assignments, quizzes, forums, and teacher announcements. If a confirmed KOS course is missing, allow for synchronization and follow the teacher’s or faculty’s instructions.

Open Moodle ↗

Open Outlook and make a habit of checking it. Teachers, study departments, libraries, and service teams may use your university address for messages that need action.

Open Microsoft Outlook ↗

Your faculty remains the authority for local timetables, study-department contacts, programme rules, rooms, laboratories, and faculty-specific systems.

Prepare Wi-Fi, meals, and accommodation

These tasks are not academically difficult, but doing them before a busy teaching day removes a surprising amount of friction.

Follow the CTU-specific setup instead of guessing settings. Eduroam credentials and certificate configuration can differ from an ordinary website login.

Open the official Wi-Fi guide ↗

Check canteen locations, current menus, and payment or card rules. Menus and prices change, so use the live official pages when choosing where to eat.

If you use a CTU dormitory, keep the relevant residence office and SUZ instructions nearby. Applications, contracts, payments, move-in, and repairs can have different routes.

Before you need it

Know where help and community are

Support is easier to use when you already know the route. Save both a practical help contact and one way to meet people outside your course.

Browse student clubs, events, international activities, the library, or career services. Choosing one now makes it less likely that useful opportunities stay hidden across separate websites.

When a checkbox is blocked

Diagnose the smallest failing layer

Several services reject your login
Return to the CTU password and UserMap first. One identity, role, or activation issue can affect many destinations together.
Only eduroam fails
Use the Wi-Fi guide and verify the network-specific username, password, and certificate setup. Do not repeatedly change your main password without checking the instructions.
KOS works but a Moodle course is missing
Confirm enrollment in KOS, allow time for synchronization, then check the teacher’s or faculty’s course instructions before opening a technical ticket.
You do not know who owns the problem
Use the support decision guide. Share the service name and a non-sensitive description, never a password, recovery code, or private study record.
